I’ve tested more tools and systems than I can count. Most made things harder, not easier. What finally worked was stripping everything down to the basics — a simple structure that does the job without the noise.
This five-step funnel isn’t tied to any company or “magic software.” It’s just a clean system that builds trust, tracks results, and lets your follow-ups do the heavy lifting while you’re offline.
1) Landing Page First Step in a Simple Funnel Framework
Your landing page is where everything begins. It’s not about fancy graphics or long sales copy — it’s about one clear promise that speaks to a single action.
Keep it laser-focused: one message, one form, one next step. When someone lands on the page, they should instantly understand what they’re getting and what to do next.
Skip the hype. A short, specific outcome works better than a long, clever headline. The clearer your promise, the higher your conversions — no tricks needed.
If you’ve seen my $10 Funnel setup, that first page is built exactly this way — one clear promise and a single next step. That’s what makes it work so consistently.
2) Thank-You / Bridge Page (set expectations)
Once someone opts in, the Thank-You page is your chance to start building trust.
Keep it simple and conversational: a quick “Check your inbox” message, what to expect next, and one logical next step that keeps them moving forward.
This page isn’t about selling — it’s about reassuring. Let them know their sign-up worked, preview what’s coming, and if it fits, gently bridge them to the next piece of your funnel (like a short video or bonus link).
A clear bridge page turns a cold lead into a warm one before your first follow-up even lands.
3) Tracking on Every Link
If I can’t see total, unique, and real clicks by source, I’m guessing — and guessing isn’t marketing.
Tracking is how you learn what’s working and what’s wasting time. When you can see your CTR (Click-Thru Rate), you’re no longer hoping for results… you’re managing them.
Every link in your funnel — landing pages, thank-you pages, emails, ads — should be tracked.
I use LeadsLeap for all my tracking. It’s free, simple, and shows me the numbers that actually matter: total clicks, real (human) clicks, and conversion rates by source.
Once you have this kind of data, you can stop guessing and start improving what works — even if you’re brand new to marketing.
4) Follow-Up Sequence (does the heavy lifting)
Once someone opts in, your follow-up emails are what build the real connection. Think of your funnel like a small engine — the landing page starts it, but your emails keep it running.
Here’s a simple flow that works:
Each message keeps people moving naturally from curiosity to understanding. Your follow-up sequence does most of the work for you — it builds trust, explains your offer in plain language, and leads readers toward taking action even while you’re offline.
5) Iterate from Real Data
Once your funnel is live, the real work begins — improving it. Don’t guess, don’t assume — use the numbers. Every click, open rate, and conversion tells a story.
Start small. Test one thing at a time, beginning with what makes the biggest impact:
Keep what works, remove what doesn’t. You don’t need to rebuild everything — just fine-tune what the data tells you.
The goal isn’t perfection; it’s progress. When you use real data instead of guesswork, every small improvement compounds over time — and that’s how consistent growth happens.
Once everything’s running, I don’t obsess over every number — just the ones that actually tell me how my funnel’s performing. Here’s what I keep an eye on each week:
If those three numbers are improving, I know the funnel’s doing its job. Everything else is just extra noise.
A simple framework always beats a complicated tech stack. Start with one clear path, add tracking, write a short follow-up sequence, and let your numbers tell you what to fix next.
Once you understand this flow, everything else in marketing starts to make sense.
If you’d like to see how this entire framework works in real life, grab the exact step-by-step funnel setup I use inside the $10 Funnel.
You’ll get the same simple flow I use to build, track, and automate my system — no tech overload, no guessing, just the steps that work.
